Commission starts review of Europe 2020 strategy
The European Commission has opened a public consultation on the review of the Europe 2020 strategy. The strategy was launched in 2010 for promoting smart, sustainable and inclusive growth. It set out seven flagship initiatives, in fields considered to be key drivers of growth, namely innovation, the digital economy, employment, youth, industrial policy, poverty, and resource efficiency. The Commission has now started to reflect on the design of the strategy for the coming years. Through the questions put in the consultation, it is seeking stakeholders’ views on lessons learned from the early years of the Europe 2020 strategy, and on the elements to be taken into account in its further development, in order to build the post-crisis growth strategy of the EU. After the consultation exercise, in early 2015, the European Commission will publish proposals on how to develop the strategy further.
The consultation will be open until 31 October 2014: http://ec.europa.eu/europe2020/public-consultation/index_en.htm .
