New partner organisations join Human Brain Project
On 20 March 2014, 32 additional organisations from 13 countries joined the Human Brain Project, increasing the number of partners in the consortium by 40%. The project is part of the Future and Emerging Technologies Flagships funded by the European Commission, and is one of the biggest EU-funded initiatives. The Human Brain Project started in October 2013 and aims at reconstructing the human brain by building a computer-based model. The new partners will have a budget of € 8.3 million for carrying out specific research tasks such as collecting data, developing theoretical frameworks and performing technical development work. Austrian organisations participating in the Human Brain Project are IST Austria, the Graz University of Technology, the Innsbruck Medical University, the Medical University of Vienna and the Austrian Research Institute for Artificial Intelligence.
