EU Prize for Women Innovators 2014 awarded
The European Commission has awarded the 2014 Women Innovators Prize to three women for combining scientific excellence with outstanding innovations and bringing them to market. This prize is addressed by the European Commission to all women who have founded or co-founded their own company and have benefitted from the EU’s research framework programmes or the Competitiveness and Innovation Framework Programme. The first prize winner is Saskia Biskup from Germany, the second prize goes to Laura van’t Veer from the Netherlands, and the third prize winner is Ana Maiques from Spain. The president of the European Commission José Manuel Barroso will hand over the prizes to the winners during the Innovation Convention 2014 (10-11 March 2014 in Brussels). The first prize is worth € 100,000, the second prize € 50,000 and the third prize € 25,000.
