The Guild Annual Report 2020-21 highlights need for more effective ERA

The Guild of European Research-Intensive Universities has published its Annual Report for 2020-2021, highlighting the association's key areas of engagement and achievements during this period. In the report, the Guild's Presidents also reflect on the key trends and challenges for Europe's universities during the pandemic and in the coming decade. Amongst other issues, Vincent Blondel, Chair of The Guild, highlights the "urgency of creating a more effective European Research Area (ERA)", which has been increased by the pandemic. Jan Palmowski, Secretary General of the Guild, stresses that the Guild keeps strongly defending "the need to keep the ERA's focus on research, including the importance of frontier research." Dedicated chapters in the report deal with ERA and with "Shaping the future for Europe's universities", as well as with "Fostering collaboration with associated countries".
