Strategic Research Agenda for a European Hydrogen Economy published

On 18 March 2022, the Task Force on the European Research Area pilot on Green Hydrogen presented a Strategic Research & Innovation Agenda (SRIA) which aims to accelerate a competitive European hydrogen economy. Experts from all over Europe have jointly identified the most urgent research questions on green hydrogen at European level and summarised them in a Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda. The European Commission as well as representatives from numerous European countries, from science, industry and civil society were also involved in the process.
The European Agenda Process on Green Hydrogen is a pilot initiative of the European Research Area which was decided as part of the realignment of the European Research Area (ERA) during the German EU Council Presidency in 2020, and in close cooperation with the partner countries of the trio EU Council Presidency, Portugal and Slovenia. The development of an ERA pilot action “renewable hydrogen” in the R&I area is also reflected in action 11 of the ERA Policy Agenda 2022-2024 “An ERA for the green transition”.
The implementation of the SRIA will be further discussed during a hybrid conference in May 2022.
