Science Europe welcomes support for standalone EU Research Programme

Science Europe has published a statement entitled 'Working Together for a Strong FP10' which urges an ambitious, standalone EU R&I Programme. Science Europe positively acknowledges the collective endorsement from the European Parliament, EU Member States’ research ministers, and both the European Research Council (ERC) and European Innovation Council (EIC), emphasising the importance of upholding an independent EU Research and Innovation Framework Programme. Recent declarations made in March 2025, including the Warsaw Declaration, the European Parliament's Resolution, and a joint statement by the ERC and EIC, resonate strongly with Science Europe’s perspective on FP10.
Science Europe advocates for FP10 to have a robust budget in the Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF) beginning in 2027, tailored to its strategic significance and dedicated exclusively to Research and Innovation (R&I). Additionally, it supports the autonomy and flexibility of the ERC and EIC in their governance and operations.
