MSCA awards €99.5 million for international research cooperation projects

The European Commission has announced the results of the 2024 Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) call for Staff Exchanges. The Commission will assign €99.5 million for a total of 83 projects, promoting cooperation between academic and non-academic organisations in the EU and around the globe, boosting innovation and knowledge transfer. The European Research Executive Agency (REA) received 329 applications for this call for project proposals, of which 324 were eligible and were evaluated. 83 projects were selected. This result corresponds to a 26% success rate.
Selected projects span all scientific disciplines. The largest share is accounted for by engineering and ICT (25%), followed by social sciences and humanities (18%) and environment and geosciences (17%). These collaborative projects are implemented by international partnerships, covering 1,025 organisations in 111 countries in the EU, countries associated to Horizon Europe and beyond, including 300 non-academic organisations and 150 small and medium-sized enterprises. The selected projects are coordinated by organisations in 17 countries. The countries with the highest participation in selected projects are Italy (47 participations), Spain (45) and the United Kingdom (44).
