MCAA and Eurodoc present Joint Statement in reaction to HLG Report
The Marie Curie Alumni Association (MCAA) and the European Council of Doctoral Candidates and Junior Researchers (Eurodoc) have recently presented a Joint Statement on the Horizon Europe interim evaluation report 'Align, Act, Accelerate' published by the High-level Expert Group. This statement outlines the two organisations' shared vision for strengthening MSCA and underscores the importance of the recommendations made by the independent expert group.
In particular, the Joint Statement calls for:
- Increased budget, meaning a significant increase in the MSCA budget to bolster the European R&I landscape;
- Independence of MSCA & ERC: Ensuring MSCA's and ERC's independence is regarded as crucial for their effectiveness and credibility.
- Improved Career Prospects: The Joint Statement calls for measures to enhance career prospects and working conditions for researchers.
- Modernising Research Assessment based on the CoARA principles, in order to reduce administrative burdens and foster innovation.
Reference is also made to the two organisations' recent statement Empowering Innovation: The MCAA's Recommendations for the MSCA in FP10, outlining their specific proposals for enhancing the MSCA's effectiveness, inclusiveness, and impact in the upcoming FP10.
