LERU statement provides feedback on simplification measures in Horizon Europe
LERU, the League of European Research Universities, published a statement on 1 July 2025 providing feedback on the simplification measures introduced in, and proposed for, the 2025 and the 2026-2027 Horizon Europe Work Programmes. According to LERU, the note is based on an analysis of the draft WPs done by, and on detailed suggestions for further simplification received from, EU research managers and experts at the LERU member universities.
The note covers the different phases of project preparation and implementation, from Work Programme and call development and the evaluation process to changes to the proposal template, the Funding and Tenders Portal and the Grant Agreement Preparation phase, finishing with some ideas related to project implementation, reporting and lump sums. LERU states that the association is committed to working closely with the EC to ensure the simplification measures benefit both applicants and beneficiaries, be it smaller, larger, new or experienced ones.
