Hungary reinforces priorities for FP10

Hungary has outlined its priorities for advancing research, fostering inclusion, and boosting European competitiveness in a position paper for the next EU Research and Innovation Framework Programme. Hungary advocates for a well-funded and strategically aligned Framework Programme that supports innovation across the EU, ensuring a streamlined structure with a stable yet flexible budget. Enhancing participation of all Member States is a key objective, with Hungary emphasising the need to close the EU's persistent innovation gap through inclusiveness and equitable distribution of funds.

Highlighting the importance of innovation commercialisation, Hungary underlines the role of venture capital markets in funding technological advancements, asserting that researchers should be equipped with entrepreneurial skills to maximise societal and economic benefits. Simplifying application processes to reduce administrative burdens remains crucial, ensuring that both seasoned and first-time applicants can contribute effectively.

Hungary has also calls for strengthened European partnerships, dual-use technology innovations, and continued independence for the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT). With a focus on collaboration, inclusivity, and impactful outcomes, Hungary envisions FP10 as a cornerstone for addressing Europe’s strategic and societal challenges while boosting its global competitiveness.
