Horizon 2020 to be more competitive than FP7
Due to efforts that have been made to make the new EU research and innovation programme accessible to more participants, the European Commission assumes that success rates could go down from 22 per cent in FP 7 to about 15 per cent in Horizon 2020. Horizon 2020 has been designed to be attractive for the business and industry sector and therefore increased amounts of proposal are expected. In addition, call topics are less specific than in FP7 and leave room for a greater variety of approaches. On top of that, in times of decreasing national budgets, expectations with regard to EU funding are high.
