EU expands AI Factories network and launches AI Antennas
The European Commission has announced a major boost to Europe’s AI infrastructure, welcoming six new AI Factories to its growing network — now totalling 19 sites across 16 Member States. The latest additions will be based in the Czech Republic, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Romania, Spain, and Poland.
AI Factories are high-tech hubs providing startups, SMEs, and industry with direct access to AI-optimised supercomputers, technical expertise, and tailored support, accelerating the development of cutting-edge AI solutions. The expansion, supported by over €500 million of joint EU and national investment, promises to enhance Europe’s high-performance computing power and drive AI adoption in key sectors.
On 13 October 2025, the European Commission announced the launch of ‘AI Factories Antennas' in seven Member States (Belgium, Cyprus, Hungary, Ireland, Latvia, Malta, and Slovakia), and in partner countries including Iceland, Moldova, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, North Macedonia, and Serbia. During her visit to the Western Balkans, President von der Leyen announced the new sites in Serbia and North Macedonia, giving the region's companies access to Europe's Artificial Intelligence infrastructure.
These Antennas will collaborate closely with AI Factories to provide national AI communities with secure remote access to world-class, AI-optimised supercomputing resources. Fully integrated into the EuroHPC ecosystem, the network aims to expand access to AI talent, infrastructure, and innovation across Europe.
Altogether, more than €2.6 billion has been committed to the AI Factories and Antennas initiative, underpinning Europe’s ambitions as a leading “AI Continent.”
