ERC provides Facts and Figures on Applications for Synergy Grants 2023
The ERC received 395 applications for the Synergy Grants 2023 call which closed for applications on 8 November 2022. In total, 1,350 principal investigators with 1,236 host institutions applied to the call. Most of the principal investigators come from German (197) and Italian (143) universities and research centres.
Women make up 27% of principal investigators in the proposed projects, similarly to the previous call in 2022. Furthermore, 65% of proposals include women, a slight increase from previous years.
In the ERC Work Programme, the ERC Scientific Council has earmarked € 300 million for an estimated 30 Synergy Grants. The ERC has started the evaluation of the proposals. The projects selected for funding are planned to be announced in autumn 2023.
