EIT receives 56 applications for its second HEI Initiative call

The European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT) has published the outcome of its second HEI (Higher Education Institutions) Initiative call which closed on 28 February 2022. The call received a total of 56 applications, involving 683 individual organisations.
The organisations consist of 311 higher education institutions (268 full partners and 43 associated partners), and 372 non-higher education institutions (107 full partners and 265 associated partners). The EIT regards the even distribution of organisations as a clear indication that the HEI Initiative is on the way to achieving its goal of creating synergies between industry and higher education institutions to boost innovation and entrepreneurship in Europe.
The consortia cover all EU Member States with 21 eligible countries from the EIT Regional Innovation Scheme, dedicated to increasing the innovation capacity of regions across Europe, and six countries from outside Europe.
The EIT HEI Initiative will select up to 40 consortia, and each selected project will be awarded a maximum of €1.2 million. Upon successful completion of Phase 1, Phase 2 funding of up to EUR 900 000 will follow for the period from January 2023 to June 2024.
