EC publishes working document on ERA pilot initiative on European aviation R&T

The European Commission has published a working document 'ERA Pilot Initiative on European Aviation Research & Technology Infrastructures Gaps Analysis'. The document was released on 2 December 2024.

An ERA Pilot initiative at EU level is proposed to cover the main future needs for updating/constructing technology infrastructures and fostering collaboration in aviation research (e.g. wind tunnels, engine test benches) to make them fit for disruptive aviation technologies, including hydrogen powered and electric propulsion systems, in order to accelerate the entry into market of new demonstrators. This would contribute to the policy objective of transforming the EU aviation towards a more green, digital and circular EU industry.
