EC appoints head of EU's Future Competitiveness Task Force

The European Commission (EC) has announced the appointment of Mr. Heinz Jansen Heinz Jansen as Principal Adviser ‘Head of the EU's future Competitiveness Task Force' in the Commission's Secretariat-General. The Secretariat-General is responsible for the overall coherence of the Commission's work – both in shaping new policies, and in steering them through the other EU institutions. It supports the whole Commission.The date of effect will be determined later.
Mr Jansen, an economist by training and a German national, has over 30 years of experience in working at the European commission. He is currently Head of Unit at DG ECFIN, in charge of the Secretariat of the Economic and Financial Committee (EFC) and the Economic Policy Committee (EPC), both being preparatory committees for the Economic and Financial Affairs Council (ECOFIN).
According to the EC, Mr. Jansen's position will have a strong focus on enhancing competitiveness, and advancing the Commission's efforts on innovation and sustainable growth across the EU. His role is underscored by the strategic foundations laid out in the Draghi Report.
