Conference focuses on potential of innovation procurement
On 26 and 27 November 2018, over 250 procurers, policy makers and innovative companies discussed the potential of innovation procurement and sustainable procurement in the public sector.
In their opening speeches, Austrian Federal Minister for Sustainability and Tourism, Elisabeth Köstinger and Federal Minister for Transport, Innovation and Technology Norbert Hofer gave insights into the ongoing initiatives regarding Public Procurement Promoting Innovation (PPPI) and Sustainable Procurement.
Austrian and international participants enjoyed two days full of interactive workshops, key notes held by field experts as well as pitches from innovative companies, getting insights into topics ranging from circular economy, digitalisation and automation to best practice examples of innovative public procurement.
During a special evening event the role of innovation and sustainability within the public sector was discussed and five innovative public procurement projects were awarded the PPPI awards.
With the ECOVATION 2018, an opportunity was provided to discuss the vital field of innovation and sustainability in public procurement. Through the international exchange, the event helped to provide unique insights and to increase awareness within public institutions and suppliers of innovative solutions.
ECOVATION 2018 was co-organised by the Austrian Federal Ministry for Transport, Innovation and Technology, the Austrian Federal Ministry for Digital and Economic Affairs as well as the Austrian Federal Ministry for Sustainability and Tourism.
