Barbara Weitgruber re-elected as ERAC Member States co-Chair
As of 25 January 2022, Barbara Weitgruber from Austria has been appointed as ERAC co-Chair from the Member States for an initial period of three years, renewable once, in accordance with Article 4 of the ERAC Mandate. Jean-Eric Paquet remains her counterpart as ERAC co-Chair from the European Commission.
Ms Weitgruber had been elected ERAC Member States co-Chair in September 2021 already. Due to the new mandate ERAC has been given as of January 2022, it was necessary to re-elect the Member States co-Chair. Barbara Weitgruber is Director General for Scientific Research and International Relations at the Austrian Federal Ministry of Education, Science and Research (BMBWF). She has been strongly involved in both the European Research Area since its very beginning in the early 2000s and the European Higher Education Area since the design of the Bologna Conference in 1999, and will contribute her experience of many years in national and European research and higher education policy to contribute to the work of ERAC.
