Austrian Ministry of Science, Research and Economy launches Research Action Plan
On the occasion of presenting the Austrian "Year of Research", Vice-Chancellor and Austrian Minister for Science Reinhold Mitterlehner emphasised that "Innovation is the key for social stability and economic growth. We have to make knowledge generated by our universities and research institutions more useable and more accessible for society". With a view to closing the gap to the Innovation Leaders and optimising the research system, the Austrian Federal Ministry for Science, Research and Economy (BMWFW) has therefore drawn up a Research Action Plan, to be implemented within the next two years. The Research Action Plan addresses issues such as promoting researchers' careers, facilitating private financing of research, or improving the innovation potential and entrepreneurial spirit of universities. The "Year of Research" is designed to strengthen the link between science and society.
