Armenia becomes associated to Horizon Europe
On 12 November 2021, the Commission signed an agreement with Armenia for tighter cooperation in research and innovation. For the period 2021-2027, Armenia has been granted association status to Horizon Europe. Researchers, innovators and research entities established in the country can now participate, under the same conditions as entities from the EU Member States. Armenia was fully associated to Horizon 2020 since 2016, and multiple success stories resulted from this cooperation in areas such as health, skills and innovation capacity for SMEs, and more.
Currently, in the categories 'acceding countries, candidate countries and potential candidates' and 'countries of the European Neighbourhood Policy', the EC has concluded the negotiations with Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia, Turkey, Moldova, Georgia, Armenia, Israel, Ukraine, Tunisia and Kosovo. Negotiations with Morocco started in October.
