Competitiveness Council (Research)

01DESCRIPTION

The Research Part of the Competitiveness Council will take place on 28 May. Research ministers will be invited to adopt a general approach concerning the regulation on establishing the European High Performance Computing Joint Undertaking (HPC) that aims to develop and maintain an integrated world-class supercomputing and data infrastructure in the EU.

The Council is set to adopt conclusions on possible ways to enhance the attractiveness of research careers in the EU. Ministers will also exchange views on how to prepare the roll-out of an ambitious European Research Area for the next ten years.

Under AOB, Ministers will be informed by the presidency of progress achieved so far in discussions regarding the EU’s participation in the European Partnership on Metrology, as well as on the regulation establishing the joint undertakings under Horizon Europe. They will also hear reports from the Commission on the membership of the Mission Innovation initiative and on the communication on a global approach to research and innovation.
