Survey assesses citizens' awareness of and engagement on EU Missions
The European Commission has published the results of a survey to assess the levels of awareness and engagement of European citizens on the EU Missions. The survey was conducted in six European countries: Finland, France, Ireland, Italy, Poland, and Romania.
The survey was commissioned as part of Policy Experimentation in Research and Innovation, a project delivered by the Innovation Growth Lab (Nesta and Barcelona School of Economics) and the Center for Collective Intelligence Design (Nesta) for the Directorate-General for Research and Innovation. It looks into the dynamics of citizen awareness and willingness to participate in the EU missions across the involved countries. As the first survey of its kind, it provides insights into the barriers and opportunities for citizen engagement in EU missions.
Key lessons from the study highlight the need to increase opportunities, funding, and requirements for citizen engagement. It advocates addressing participation barriers, focusing on local benefits, targeting young people, and investing in diverse engagement methods.
