SET-Plan

02INTRODUCTION

Strategic Energy Technology Plan

Developing clean, efficient and low-carbon energy technologies is essential for facing energy-related and environmental challenges. As part of a package of measures setting out a European energy policy, the Commission presented a strategic plan to accelerate the development and deployment of cost-effective low carbon technologies (SET Plan) in 2007.

The SET Plan brings together the major European research institutes and universities (The European Energy Research Alliance), European industry, and the EU Member States (The Steering Group on Strategic Energy Technologies), coordinated by the European Commission. Actions will be based on reliable information about technologies and capacity (The Strategic Energy Technologies Information System - SETIS).
